Our staff & structure

Brook House Farm

At Brook House we believe that learning should be FUN

We provide lots of fun yet structured activities, designed to stimulate a child's enthusiasm to learn. We encourage the development of the child's naturally enquiring mind and independent thought. 'Why' should be one of the most important words in a child's vocabulary.

Each child will work through the four stages we encompass, at a speed which is comfortable for themselves. A rough definition of these stages is as follows:

  1. Baby stage, until approximately 12 months of age
  2. Young Toddler stage, until approximately 12 to 24 months of age
  3. Older Toddler stage, from 2 years to almost 3
  4. Pre-School group from 3 years to school entry at 4 or 5

Each group has its own base room, with a range of age-specific toys always available. There is a specific Team Leader in each room, supported by qualified and experienced staff who work a Key Worker system, to give each child the comfort and security he or she needs to be relaxed and happy in our care. All staff have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, and its delivery.

Children are involved in a broad range of activities to support their language, mathematical thinking, and imagination, while staff aim to challenge them and inspire them to achieve their best. Experience in observational skills enables staff to plan appropriate activities for the next steps in development and learning.

At present we have an Early Years Professional leading the Pre-School group, as well as individual members of staff with degrees in Early Childhood Education, NVQ Level 3, and the NNEB qualifications. Our Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager have been with us for 15 years and 7 years respectively.

Our staff pride themselves on being a happy and co-operative team, and form excellent relationships with both parents and children. Parent Partnership is of paramount importance to us, as we share the joy of developing 'little minds'.

Our opening hours are from 7.30am to 5.45pm Monday to Friday, closing only on Bank Holidays and the week between Christmas and New Year.

We also provide sessional care for children who qualify for government funding.
