At Brook House Farm, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. This sets the standards for learning and development from birth to five years.
Our approach to learning and development
Our setting believes that care and education are equally important in the experiences that we offer children. The routines and activities which make up the day are provided in ways that:
Help each child to feel they are a valued member of the nursery
Ensure the safety of each child
Help children to gain from social experiences as well as being part of a group
Provide children with opportunities to learn and help them value learning
Learning through play
Play helps young children to learn and develop through doing and talking. Research has shown this is essential in the process of learning to think and reason. Our setting uses the practice guidance to plan and provide a range of play activities that help children to make progress in each of the areas of learning and development. In some of these activities children take the lead in deciding how they will use or complete the activity. In others, adults take the lead with the child partaking in the activity.
